It really depends on the piston maker, if they have a dome or valve reliefs, if they have the wrist pin offset and if they have a arrow on them or not  Most OEM replacement pistons have a pin offset, one of the old pure stock racing tricks with flat top pistons was to reverse the pistons on the rods and run the offset backwards from the factory way  That reduced friction and increased performance   as well as made them knock pretty loud, especailly when cold  What brand and type(cast, forged, flat top, reverse dome or?)of pistons are you working on? BTW, it does make a difference on some pistons on how they install on the rod as well as how the rods install in the block, make sure you get both correct
