How much can you shave off of a set of 302 heads on a 318 with stock bottom end and cam before there is a clearence issue?

If your trying to up compression, I believe with the 302 heads you should be at 9 to 1 already. You would not want to go much higher if this is a street engine running on pump gas IMO.

Clearance of what?

Shaving will affect your pushrod length or at a minimum lifter preload, intake port alignment and watch the alterator alignment too.

I would like to get to around 9.5.
I am interested in the valve to piston clearence.
Pushrod lenght,I can work with as with alt.
