i currently run a Holley Volumax fuel pump but think i should be replacing soon since it's had a bit of use. the Volumax has 2x -8 inlets, 1x -8 outlet & 1x -6 by pass on the pump. what's a similar config pump to suit 750 hp motor that doesn't require me having to change my fittings?

i was thinking it might be a bit undersized for my combo now. i started with a 340 now i have a 512 with a bigger carb. nothing worse than loosing a race due to fuel starvation.

Ya there is............loosing a MOTOR. Your car runs great and I know Jason at Pettis Performance stopped using those pumps years ago don`t remember why but he did.

Uh, Thumper...
Maybe it was because Holley stopped building them!! Love those pumps, have them on both my cars. The motor manufacturer went under so Holley stopped production

they are a great pump. nice & quiet, they just don't like sucking air. i've had no problems with the pump but since it's only a 160gph unit, i was thinking it maybe a little undersized for running 512 cubes into the low 9's.

This was when they still sold em............if Jason stopped using them I guarantee there was a good reason for it and no more production may be a clue

Rebel,
I don't even know of another pump with a 2 inlet, 1 outlet design...let alone something that would re-use the same fittings!! I did quite a bit of research when I went with the 250 GPH units in my cars. I spent nearly 600 bucks switching over from the previous setup, by the time I got a pump, new filter, new fittings, and new lines!!

Thumpr,
I've never heard a bad word about those pumps, so the next time you're following Jason around...ask him straight up.

Anybody got a 250 laying around, I'd love a spare....

What about the Mallory 250 series pump? Lots of fast cars w/em,fair priced and appears to be similar to yours.

I don`t really see Jason much anymore and I dont remember his reasoning but I guess it doesn`t really matter at this point.

how does one calculate how big a fuel pump one needs to feed an engine. checking different websites you get conflicting answers. Holley claim their HP150 pump supports 900hp, BG claim their 220 pump only does up to 650 hp. my volumax is only 160 gph & it is holding on the full 1/4 but only just. surveying my data logger i see it's starting to drop off just as i approach the line, this is why i'm considering an upgrade. my main line from the pump to the reg starts off as -8 but steps up to 7/16 (int) hardline to the reg with no tight bends. maybe if i give it a reco like moparbilly suggests, is there a way i can step up the bypass to make sure i'm getting full pressure? i haven't pulled it apart yet but i have removed the restrictive filters & fitted the large Fram fuel filters on the inlets.
