Its Baaaaaack... Finally a chance to start scanning more pics. The next batch is from the 1984 Mopar Nats in Indy. Quite a few of the pics will be wing cars, starting with Daytonas. Although a duplication is possible, most of the pics will be of different cars. So, if you believe that you are seeing the same R4 Red Daytona over-and-over, compare the wheels, stripe color, etc.

I do not know... hoping that someone chimes in with the answer. Apparently a Mopar Muscle Club member from Wisconsin... see pic below.

There was a fair amount of Bondo waviness in the transition area between the fenders and the nose. The nose was fiberglass, a friend of mine said that he provided it to the guy. Next time I talk to him I will see if he remembers the guy's name...

Maybe I'm getting this car/person mixed up with someone else but that sure looks like Bart Gaffney's (apologies on spelling) "Daytona-ized" Charger. Back in the early 80's, Bart was an enthusiastic promoter of the just beginning Wisconsin Mopar Muscle Club. Initially he had that car and sometime around '85-'87(?), he purchased a red 440 powered 69 Charger Daytona. Shortly there after, he pretty much disappeared from the local Mopar scene. Both cars as well.
A couple of years ago, I was watching the 10:00 news and they had breaking news about a fire that destroyed a home in Ixonia, a suburb between Madison and Milwaukee. The owners name was Bart Gaffney. I wondered if that was the same guy. Nothing specific was mentioned about property loss but his old 69 Daytona just popped up in a recent MuscleCar Review or HemmingsMM, all nicely restored but owned by someone else. Don't know what happened to the '71. No one has seen it in years.

Wow, I don't remember that car from St. Louis or Milan. You would think that back in the days of meets with only 2 or 3 hundred cars that something like that would stand out to everyone.
I see a light at the end of the tunnel, and it's... ELECTROLUMINESCENT!

HI Guys, That was Bart Gaffney's car. He was also the one who had the house fire, but he and his family were okay. He now has a 59 Dodge that he takes to the local drive-ins. He also did have a red Daytona, that was originally sold at Mr Norm's.(440 auto) The car was recently restored by Karl Kreis at Midwest Musclecars in Slinger Wis. It was in a recent Muscle Car Review, but the wrong restorer was listed. They did a beautiful job on the car. I am not aware of what happened to the 71, but will ask him the next time I see him. Thanks again for the thread Allen!! Chris
Thanks for the update Blue69. Hope he is doing well.
Even though I attended my first Nationals in '86, it's fun to read about and see what came before. Cool thread Allen.

1984 Mopar Nats in Indy -
Below is a panoramic image made from 4 pictures... one of the splices has problems that I will correct later.
The image is 2500 pixels wide by 430 pixels tall... to see it in that size, click on the "attachment" link at the top of this reply frame...
I will have more panoramic pictures put together in the coming weeks.

Welcome to Moparts Kenny! Its great to hear from you again... been a long while since we last talked on the phone.
For those that don't know Kenny, he is one of the original organizers of Mopar clubs, and served as Membership Director of Mopar Muscle Club for many years. The first "out-of-town" all Mopar show that I attended was a MMC Regional Meet in Amarillo hosted by Kenny in about 1980. Rode up there in a 1970 Challenger R/T convertible with "IEATGM" license plates...
Looking forward to seeing your pictures Kenny... I'll dig some up too...
