Weren't there only something like only 20 some RT/SE Hemi Challengers made...
Kind of cool that in the late 70's early 80's 3 of them were owned by people living within a 30mile radius.
One in York (Black), One in Lancaster(Brown) & one in Reading Pa(Yellow)
Too bad they never got together for a group shot.

I remember this car from some magazine coverage of the Nats in the late 80's. I think it was just a picture or group shot and not a specific article. I did eventually run across this car and have pictures of it somewhere.

The car is from Lancaster County, PA. Looks like it is being restored with a regular Challenger rallye hood.

Guess it wasn't TA... Last time I saw it hood was up and I didn't really go look, just walked past.

It would be nice if he restored it right back to the way he had it the last 40 years.
Car spent a lot longer in day 2 trim than it ever did in day one...
Besides... his Superbird is already in Day 1 trim.
Either way it's a sweet car.

I took that pic higher in the thread 26yrs ago... then apparently I lived across the cornfield from him for 10yrs.
I found out about it 2 yrs after I moved.... on this site.
(Followed his Superbird home... which guys on here recognized)

He lived on the other side of the field... direction my dog is looking.
Field located "somewhere" in PA... exact location to remain... unlisted.

what car is curently being totally restored.

Quote:

It's a T/A hood.
He used to take it to Carlisle ... last time I saw it, it was sitting under it's own personal tent.
Likely got tired of the morons dissing it for a few paint chips & the graphics he had on it for nearly 40yrs.

That's Steve's "pacifica" former '70 440 4-spd "deep burnt orange metallic" GTX & Dan's "sixpaktoogo" former '68 HEMI 4-spd "electric blue metallic" GTX.

It may have been "electric blue" in 1982, but 28 years in my photo archive turned it a stunning shade of "electro-fluorescent green"...

So far I cannot find a burnt orange 440 GTX, only a blue 1970 Hemi GTX and this 1970 440+6 Road Runner...

The lace Challenger is well known. It ran in the twelves and weighed 4250 lbs., not bad for an old hemi. He brought the Challenger to the Nationals not for show but for all go. He enjoyed his Challenger to the fullest not like a lot of trailer queens you see now.

Well, having had only Dan's input on the green appearing 1971 Hemi `Cuda convertible, here is my best guess... they are actually badly aged images of the blue car that I photographed also at the track...

Here are comparison shots...

The engine bay shots offer the most clues... can you pick them out?

From what I hear, it is still undecided if it will be restored to stock (appearing) or day2.

I agree it is the "drug seizure" '71 HEMI'Cuda GB5 "true blue metallic" 4-spd convertible from the pacific northwest.
Here it is pre-2004 still wearing the early-'80s Eagle STs with the "bird".

I bought that super bee in the background of this picture in 1989 in Burlington Kentucky. It is a 440 six pack 4 speed super track pack car. I got it when I was 20 for $4500. Had 18995 miles on it when I bought it.

I thought that I had an individual shot of that car, but cannot find one now. Here is a parking lot picture with the Super Bee in it.

In 2003 when I sold it after 13 years. Had 19,335 miles on it, still had the numbers matching drivetrain when I bought it set aside, had a spun bearing. The car went through an auction is the last few years. The bad part is there wasnt any documenttion for the car. It was raced early in it's life. No fendertag, no broadcast sheet. I seen it for sale with a lot of stuff that shouldnt have been on it and I know how it should be.
