I am glad to see this old thread s still around... I will try to make time to start posting pics again, but I have lost track of what I have already posted... so someone let me know if I start repeating myself. Since Bill Hartman posted some great pics, I will try to dig out some old WAM (Wichita Area Mopars) meet pics from the 1980s... Until then, here is a great link with old drag racing pics from the glory days of Six Flags Dragway (aka Aloe Field) in Victoria, Texas: http://www.sixflagsdragway.com/gallery1/index.htm Not too many Mopars, although this section has quite a few: Bill Tumlinson Photos - Page 1 of 3 Links to pages 2 & 3 are at the bottom of the page...

I was rattling thru several cobwebs and after the late 70's NHOA Nationals there is a brief blank when I wasn't involved, however I came back big in '83 with our first tractor trailer at Chelsea and then in '84 with our new Kenworth rig... Go Longacre tells the story in the latest issue of Chyrsler Power Magazine about those years... I did the souvenir programs for the meets and I still have decals from the first four NHOA Nationals too. I'll start digging thru my archives and develop a little more of the story but it was in a room at the Holiday Inn at Indy 1984 when all 12 clubs were represented and we each kicked in $100 to seed the Columbus Mopar Nats- (still called the Chrysler Car Club Convention...) Monroe Schellinger wanted me to be president but I declined and suggested Bielenda; Karen Vandervelden got Secretary, Eric Ayliff from Canadian Mopar Owners VP and Lynn Arent from Mopar Muscle Treasurer... We made about $25,000 on the Columbus event and kept the money in the bank to do an even bigger bash the following year... Lynn lost her job over the winter, used most of the funds to keep her and her daughter alive and in the spring Bielenda had her put in jail for embezzlement. Then he, Eric and Karen incorporated the Mopar Nationals and aced the rest of us out... More to come...
