No. It's never popular to ask for factual data when you can, instead, just assume what is popular is better in every way.

Is that kinda like asking a question about a venereal disease for a "friend"??

Everything in my Wilwood box was 42 lbs, did not think to weigh the drums/backing plates and shoes.

Stock discs? I think drums are lighter than stock disks if I remember correctly.

I believe they (Drums) are lighter by a small bunch. Maybe like 20-30 pounds.
My friend begs to differ and we have a lunch bet.LOL.
I still have drums on all fours for my car. Yes, they stop great because I bought good stuff and adjusted them right.

You would need to be more specific. There are different drums and different disc brakes. Either one could be lighter depending on which parts you are using.

10-1/2 inch B-body drums against Disc.
Not sure if Disc were available on early B's back in the day so I would have to say the typical A-body Disc set up that would be swapped into an early B-body.

loaded question yes stock disc setup for b/e cars 10.75 is heavier than 11.00 drums, thats why they spanked them on all a-12 cars. but new light wieght disc kits are lighter than drums. but drums still have one advantage over disc for racing you can adjust down all drums for 0 drag, disc always have drag on rotor, thats why s/s hemi cars ran 9 inch dart drums on all 4s way back for super light and no drag, but now with new super light drag kits/street kits its the way to go and stop

Don't hold me to this exactly, but if I have a good enough memory, the 4 wheel 10" drums and backing plates, lines, etc. Versus 4 wheel Aerospace discs.. Aerospace was about 80-100 pounds lighter..

I can't remember the exact number, but it was a bunch.. I was very surprised.

And I weighed everything as we did it at the time.. I just wish I would have written it down..

Chris..

Lee,
Just did a weight comparison for you on an industrial scale.
1973-76 A body discs including lower ball joint-53 pounds
1971 E body 10" x 2.5" flared drums with lower ball joint-50 pounds
I'm sure the flared drums weight a little more than the unflared drums.
