I went up with Lar_414 last week to the track and just getting some feedback on my times. I've got a #3978 67 B body with 3.55 gears and a 3k stall. Engine is a 499 with OOTB eddys, SD intake, 950HP carb, small solid (247/255, .549/.571). 275/60-15 M&H drag radials. I ran a best of 11.85@114.3 with a 1.70 60ft. I've got SS springs and mopar long shocks. This is with full exhaust (1.75 cheap headers), left in D (shifts at 6k on it's own), and with me driving (I'm not good). Am I in the ball park? I think ther's a little more in it, somewhere

Runs good! How do you like the M&H tires? I have a set of 325s I'll be trying this Friday.

I actually like them. I used 18psi in them, tried 20 and they didn't like it. Needed a good burn out first pass. Then a little smoke show each time after. The track has to be prepped moderately good I think for them to hook great.

cool car, like I said on your other post. you need some gear. That combo is good for mid 11's... maybe better I'd think with the right gears.

ET and speed line up well, as does the 60 foot. Obviously low 11's would be easily attainable with a gear, header change and a little port work. Nice ride!

Thanks guys, I plan on putting in 3.91's and looking for 1 7/8 or 2" headers. And improving my driving skills.

Don't know if this helps, but one of the class racer types says that the optimum ET is 1320/MPH, so going by that, 11.55 would be your optimum ET

You know I'm kidding.

Here's what I'd do:
Un clamp the rear segment on the springs
Get a set of 90/10's on the front end
Lower the air pressure to 16 or so
Put the 3.91's in
Leave a little harder.

I'd expect about another .1-.2 and 1mph in the same air. In the fall that would probably put you around 11.6-11.5 at 116mph.

Your 114mph is at 5000rpm. Get your rpms up around 5600 through the traps and you'll be pulling around 116mph. Your engine produces more HP at 5600 than it does at 5000. Kinda like free HP! You already have the HP, you're just not using it all on the top end

I'm not an automatic guy. How do you do this? Do you leave from an idle and just floor it? Do you load the converter? When the car launches, what should the tach be reading when the car begins to move? Should the rpm be within the powerband of the engine?

I'd hold the rpm at about 1300rpm or so, then stomp the gas, and .5 seconds later, let go of the brake. "Sling Shot" it! I've always gotten my best 60' times that way, back in the days of automatics.

I'm trying. My feet don't always work together. Even when I walk.

hahaha ahhh. 3.91's will help more than ya think. load up the converter some then stomp it as the last yellow pops, shift that thing at 6200 and see how that goes.

I betcha your planned header swap will pick you up a mph or two for sure. 1.75 inch headers are great for 400 hp engines, not so great for 550+.

Your car is a favorite; love the stock look.

I would think the parts would allow a lot of gain if optimized.

Thanks for the good words. I hope to have some changes done so I can go back to the track at least once before winter.

I really like your car alot. 11's from a 2 ton street car with 3.55's that you drive is very good indeed. I think it runs good but I also think it has very low 11's in it with a few changes as stated and some fine tuning. I love the all stock sleeper look. If you really think you are a bad driver maybe try and let someone else make a pass and see how it runs. Good luck with that fine Mopar as I know it will be in the lower 11's soon. Ron

I hope to get it down some. I just need to practice more at the track. If someone else drove and hurt themselves from something I did to the car I couldn't forgive myself. Besides that going to the track and running is the most fun I've had for a long time. I wish I would have done it sooner! After each pass I just want to round robin and go again!
