A friend of mine is having a brake issue with his 75 Duster. A while back he converted it from drum to disc brakes (later A-body stuff). Not sure when it started, but now he complains that both of his front calipers are sticking. When we put the car in the air and tried to spin the front wheels, they only spun about 1/8-1/4 turn. With the car rolling you can hear something hanging up as well. Do you think this a caliper/brake hose issue, or could it be the proportioning valve (he never chnaged it).

I have used an adjustable proportioning valve from Summit to solve this problem.

It almost sounds like he has the wrong rotors on the spindles? Are the wheel bearings tight?

He'll need a proportioning valve with disc brakes that you don't need with drum brakes.

Another thing that comes to mind is the MC push rod, is it correct length?

The rotors are correct. All the parts came out of a 74 Dart donor car, and the rotors were ordered for that application. Not sure about the push rod length though. I'll tell him to order a proportioning valve and go from there.

The lack of a proportioning valve will not cause the calibers to drag on the rotors.
I've seen the wrong bearings being used before and cause the rotors to rub things they usually don't.
There more than likely is a mechanical issue with the parts he has now.

(1) make sure there's no RPV in the disc half of the M/C (next to the firewall) (2) clean the caliper horseshoe adapter "ways" (where the caliper slides)(3) get some rebuilt calipers (they're cheap ~$15) and fyi 76 A body and all F body calipers have a 2.75" bore whereas 73-75 A body ones are 2.60". Some calipers just start dragging somewhat for no reason. If mixing/matching calipers note the hose/bleeder locations you need as they vary.(take your old ones in w you)
