okay, heres why I ask. My new Hooker Comps are really close (about a 1/16") to the steering box. When the car idles, the #5 tube rattles slightly against it. I know I can't leave it like this. I could put a ding in the headers, but I want to look at all options before I do this.
What about solid mounts in a street car? or... how about a solid on just the driver side? Will this solve my problem? This is a really nice street car, and I don't want it to be obnoxiously uncomfortable to ride in. How much will it vibrate and shake? It does have a 252* solid tappet cam, so its already sorta a handful at idle.
How would you guys handle this?

i replaced the rubber on one of my engine mounts for a solid piece of steel, engine vibrations went up big time. nothing i couldn't live with but the g/f at the time b!tched like you wouldn't believe. don't think she cruised with me much after that, not that it was a bad thing.

Can you get poly bushes for motor mounts? That way they'd be a bit stiffer but not transfer vibes like steel ones. FWIW I've run moroso solid mounts and can't remember having too much of an issue.

I use one solid mount on driver side on my challenger and I can't tell any differance in vibration. I wanted it just to keep from ripping the rubber ones apart. Works for me

I run elephant ears and a solid passenger mount for safety, and to support the 440 when the trans is out. the rotating assembly is muscle motors light weight bracket killer. I have 0 vibration there is less idle rock in the car than when it was a stock 383. good luck Jay
