comments: Few have his knowledge or his dedication. He is a true scientist as well as an engine builder and champion drag racer. You get what you pay for, and with Rich, you get the best. He built a superb Hemi motor for me and I'm happy I took the job to him.

comments: Very reasonably priced. Kim is a long time mopar drag racer and his boss (Smeding) is a very good engine builder. They did a great job on my 440 (68 Charger R/T) that I drag race and routinely spin up to 6500 RPM with no problems whatsoever.

Shop name: Engintecs / Edgewater Machine

City and state: Evanston, IL

Contact person: Bud Clements

Phone number: (773) 561-0388

Days & hours: 7am - 5pm Monday thru Saturday

dyno & type (engine, chassis, both): no, no

porting services (yes/no): sort of (I would get serious porting done someplace else)

comments: For you Chicagolanders! Bud is a fantastic guy (he's an old guy with a strict "No B.S." policy), and puts together 200,000 mile motors every day. He won't quote you horsepower, he won't spec a cam for you, but he's absolutely THE guy when it comes to machining everything and putting it together. He stands by his work (longer warranties than most places offer), and the best part is: he's WAY cheaper than anyone in the area. He's built hundreds of hot street motors that have lasted for years....I recommend Bud's work to everyone I know. Visit http://www.engintecs.com/ for some info/pics of their work.

comments: They work on anything from Jr. dragsters engines to stroker Hemis. They have a lot of area drag racers and circle track racers as their customers. All brands are done here, but for "Mopar Specific" talk to Bart. Latest addition is the full use of "Performance Coating" technology. Visit their web site for info. There is a complete PRICE LIST also on their web page to help you compare pricing in your area. Might be worth it to ship them your part! They accept work from all over the USA.
