I'll try to be brief, but have several interior paint questions. After 2 1/2 years and a new resto shop taking over my struggling project, we're finally ready start painting my 1969 RR Convertible. We need to know the correct interior paint colors for my B5 Blue Vert. Here is the second line on the fender tag: B5 B5 H2B B7. So based on these #'s I need to know what is the paint color for the dash frame. I'm showing Baltic Blue or Bahama Blue. Also, I read this as the door frames are B7 Blue. On the convertible, does the B7 follow the upper line on the rear interior panels? And finally, what color should the sheetmetal panel or cross bar be that fits behind the rear seat and the convertible boot attaches to, B5 or B7? Paint codes and photos would be a big help.
Thanks.

The interior metal will be the B7, but by code #s. The dash, ashtray, glovebox door & steering column jacket & bowl should be "suede finish", the rest shiny. Door interior color is separated from body color at the weatherstrip, and is along the top & bottom of the doors. I don't recall the convert quarter trim clearly but I THINK the B7 continues; there are a few convertible guys here that can answer this better.
Here are the DuPont codes:
9463LH Baltic Blue for moldings using low gloss (basically the plastic).
4983L Baltic Blue for door interior, window moldings, convertible header, rear defogger bezel using high gloss.
What I recall from my '69 B5 exterior/B7 interior RR Hardtop is only the darker blue, but codes exist for a lighter blue as well: 9642L Sierra Blue low gloss and 4982L Thunder Blue high gloss. The ONLY light blue I remember in the interior was the seat inserts, which of course weren't painted.
The low gloss required adding 2 oz of 4528S flattening compound per pint of color.
The suede as I recall was another code (not listed on my chart) and required spraying some test panels to get the correct sharkskin/about-600-grit texture.
Some if not all of these codes may require cross-referencing to updated code #s. That will require a serious guy at your local jobber who gives a damn.
Basically, the light/dark colors and types of paint will be similar in value, gloss & texture whether the car has a green, tan, red or blue interior.

Found the DuPont code for the suede finish for the dash & steering column; it's 9611LH Baltic Blue.
Why they're all referred to as Baltic when they're different shades is beyond me, but it's likely just to tie the colors together somehow. The codes are what matters.

Thanks Steve,
The info you provided will be very helpful. Especially the codes. The only thing I still need to know is what color the convertible only metal piece should be behind the rear seat, but I am 99% sure it should be sprayed B5 the same as the outer body sheetmetal.
Thanks again!

If you are talking about the aluminum metal channel that attaches to the back of the rear seat that the boot slides into, it is natural metal finish, no paint.

No, I am talking about the sheetmetal piece that the aluminum channel attaches to. It runs behind and across the rear seat. I see in your photo it is painted black. In my case, it could be painted B5 blue or B7 blue. I need to know which color would be correct.
Thanks.

As you can see on my car it matches the color of the interior plastic panels it attaches to not the red of the outside sheet metal.
But you need to get confimation from someone on that for the blue car.
I will go through my literature to see if I can find something for you.

here is my rr,your boot attachment panel should be the same as your Upper door frame, as mine is also B7, (Mine is M6C B7 blue and white interior)I also believe your boot should be B7.

I appreciate all the info, and the photos really made it clear to me. I only hope mine looks as good when it's done. We'll go with B7.
Thanks again!

B7 is the only color code available for blue interiors on a 69 B-body. B7 Baltic Blue is not to be confused with the B7 exterior because the Baltic Blue is much brighter. The rear panel is B7 Baltic Blue as are the upper doors. The problem is matching the original. It is glossy but not glossy like the exterior it is a low gloss but not semi-flat. Here is a photo of an original B7 interior. Even though it's a hardtop, you can see what you're shooting for.

Ragtop - Great to see you moving on this. I'm the guy that sold you the doors. Your dad still got his 'Vette? That is one amazing car. Post a couple pics of your progress so we can see it. I need some reference pics for my 68 Sport Satellite convertible. Cheers!!

Hello,
Very nice to hear from you. The doors and other parts were a big help. Dad's still hanging on to his Vette after 42 years in the family. My RR is starting to move forward after fumbling around with the first shop. It's now in very capable hands and I'm very pleased. It's on the rotisserie now so not many photos yet, but here's one. Let me know how yours is going. See ya!

Not to steal your thread but I have an additional question on the same topic. I have converted my Coronet ragtops interior over to the two tone blue/white from straight blue. I have looked at and seen pictures of many different cars ( both 69 Plymouths and Dodges) and there are two parts which I have yet to see a consensus on. In the pics in this thread the sunvisors and rear armrests are both blue. Yet on many cars they are white. I've heard explanations that all soft parts are supposed to be white, and all painted blue. Makes sense to me with the visors, but not the rear armrests sitting in the middle of a blue panel. Anyone know the answer, or is it typical Mopar could be either.

I noticed the same thing & can't believe that 2 white front and 2 blue rear armrests is correct?

Makes sense to me if all four were white.

I can only speak for my St Louis Build 69 rr vert, Ive owned this car over 20yrs, and when I first notice the arm rest a diffrent color, I thought it might be incorrect, But after talking to the original owner when I was restoring it in the late 80's..He claims it came that way, infact all four Armrest are original..white up front and Blue out back.Makes since tho- white arm rest on white panels up front, and blue arm rest on Blue in the back.

I am going to go with the blue rear arm rests on mine, since I think it looks better against the blue panel. But was still wondering what is right.

Also is that RR B3? My Coronet is now B3, though originally B5.

Yes, its B3 (Ice Blue Met.) with B7/white interior, when I bought back in the day the previous onwer painted it B5. I had a hard time putting it back to B3 as I wasnt a fan of the color, But I'm glad now that I did as it has grown on me..also Ive never seen another one out thier with the same color combo.(B3/B7 with white)not saying thier isnt one tho-.

My 70RR vert, B7 with blue/white bucket interior, has white armrests. Most originals I've seen along these lines, blue/white interior, have white armrests. I have an interior color code book for 70 Plymouth, but it doesn't specify armrest color.

I would suggest looking in '69 dealer brochures, road test articles & the like. '69 white interiors had white door frames & armrests, and the quarter trim would also be white. I've had 2 original black & white interior '69 RRs, and both were that way. '68s had more contrast in those areas, as I recall.
