Well im really on the fence when it comes to a decision on pistons for my 340
This car will be pretty much a daily driver so conventional thinking says go cast however these pistons are too heavy by any sort of modern performance standard so im thinking forged
I have a really nice set of 12:1 oversize pistons this pushes me over to the E85 pump about 8 miles from home or buy new pistons. IIRC light forged pistons dont have a reputation for hi mileage
Sooo, who makes a light forged piston that will run as long as a cast piston ???

Just follow the directions for the top ring....needs to have wider gap

Factory cast pistons are on the heavy side, but when comparing "apples to apples" ie. a cast piston vs. a forging of similar design forgings tend to be heavier. KB Hypers do in fact make excellent street and mild bracket race pistons.

Me too, my '73 340 cast slug motor has the KB's and doesn't seem to mind what it is at all! The best word to describe how it runs is "nervous......."
