what are the difference in distribution hitches?
I see 600, 800 and 1000lb
Round or Trunnion style?

How do you choose?

Ted if its swaying like that... pull the car forward
more to put more weight on the tongue... yes the EQ
bars help but if the trailer isnt loaded right there
isnt enough sway control in the world that can correct
a negative tongue weight(it might help but it would
still be a white knuckle drive) if you mount a front
chock block at the right point on the trailer all
you would do is pull up and bump into it then tie down

Thanks,Raff! Yes...I have to have the car waaay up front...It is only a 15' deck...The chocks seem like a good idea,too...FYI...When we towed the John Deere 455 out to the farm a couple of weeks back...It had to set on the back of the trailer...It is an open deck...Hairy ride!! We took our time on the gravel road!!

only thing i did was measure ground up to my hitch and ground up to my trailer, and bought the proper drop down REESE hitch ball. so that the trailer remains perfectly level, i hate seeing trailers that dont line up at all, either hitch is too high and the trailer does a wheelstand or its too low and its nose diving haha...
its very easy to figure out, other than that make sure you got all your lights working and tires filled up and even, and trailer brakes adjusted. should be GOLDEN!

You can see in this photo the trailer is alil low in the front, my drop down hitch is for a brand new econo trailer i borrowed, same one im buying, this is my uncles trailer it needs a taller hitch ball. but it still towed great.

I agree with Nick. Heck, my tow setup is almost exactly the same, including a white diesel ram and a econotrailer!

Open trailer towing with a heavy Duty Ram 2500, no EQ hitch, but I have one to put on. JUsy never felt like needed it.

I have a tire stop bolted to the bed of the trailer so I load the race truck in the same spot everytime, a couple inches for or aft can make a big diff.

I also slid the ball all the way into the receiver and drilled a new hole for the pin...It was sticking out 3"...Leverage is leverage.

The different weight bars are for what you want to
lift... if you want to take a 1000 lbs off the tongue
you would use the 1000 lb bars... the trunnion is
just a different style bar... you have to have the
proper bar for your hitch... I like to stay with the
manufactures own bars.. ie Reese... Drawtite and so on
that way they mount correctly ... if you get bars
that are a little light for your weight you will
pull the bars up farther which makes the chains shorter
which really helps the anti sway BUT you can bind
going around tight corners
