I am trying to test a 360 and see if it is a good engine or if I need to bebuild it. I do not have a transmission for it but have the Torque Converter and flex plate. Is there anyway I can test start it with out the 904 being present?

the starter mounts to the bellhousing so you'd need to fab up something that will put the starter in the correct spot to engage the ring gear on the torque converter.

You could just look around for somebody thats just selling a bellhousing i would think

You could cut the bellhousing off a junk 904 trans I guess. Either that or if you have a bellhousing/flywheel from a manual trans.
