wondering if anyone has installed a hyd. roller in there big block and had problems with getting info from manufacturers on proper install's of these? I have a howards cam W/lunati lifters, nobody can tell me how to set the lash....can any help with this set up? They are noisy when at idle in neutral, and when i put the car in gear they seem to almost quiet up completely!!???? The rockers were set at 0 valve lash then tightened 1/2 turn. They sound similar to mechanical lifters, not like hydraulic flat tappet lifters. Was not sure if this was normal or if they should be tightened slightly more or if other problem and should remove and return. Lunati says to return and they will check, but hate to do that if not needed.

I have a comp cams retro fit hyd roller in my 440 (engine hasn't run yet) and comp cams said to set to zero lash and tighten 1/2 turn.

I have a Crane hyd roller in my 440 for almost 4 years .No problems with it at all.Set the adjustment the same as you would set a reguler set of hydraulic lifters..Bring it to 0 lash then about 1/2 turn..haven't had my valve covers off in 2 years..and run test and tune svevral times a year..

Comps are not trouble free---we had one with sticking plungers last week--TROUBLE! You need 1/2 turn minimum if you ask me --that is if you can get a set of good lifters--Crane Hyd rollers were trouble free--hate to see them go!

And Comp...is NO HELP on issues--won't even call you back--they know those stink and you would think a recall would be in order vs. a ton of engine guys taking it in the wallet but NOOOO. If they had put out the word that there is trouble and gave us credit for the lifters --well...we would be loyal forever but I will NEVER trust those folks again.
