Since my other carb sold I went ahead an ordered a new BG E85 850 Mighty Demon. The website says they are a new design http://www.jegs.com/i/Barry-Grant/132/7563010GC/10002/-1?parentProductId=

It arrived today but so far I'm very concerned about it. I wanted to take the bowls off to check it out and the bowls were stuck like it had sat for years and the brand new gaskets shredded. Grrr so now I have to replace the gaskets on a brand new carb. Not that big of a deal I have tons of the gaskets in the trailer. While I'm looking it over I see metal shaving remnants all over inside. To the point one was stuck completely blocking one of the primary jets and I had to pull it with tweasers.

Does anyone know why new carbs don't come with jet extensions?

I will say the carb looks very well built and has an awsome finish on it. The jetting seems humungous but they are the experts.

Primary jets with PV are 116
Secondary jets without PV are 128

I'll be heading to T n T tomorrow with it to see how it works. The car ran 6.41 @ 105 last time out with the E85 950 HP off the dart so I'm hoping for similiar numbers. I have a Wideband now so tuning should go pretty quickly.

Seems to be the norm with any BG carb... medal in
them... the reason for no jet extensions, simple,
cost... plus they get you to buy them... thats a
WIN WIN for them... never been a fan of BG anything...
why did you sell your other E85 carb? Also the
jetting can be anywhere based on the bleeds....
for my QF 1050 those are real big jets so they must
have gas bleeds in it or close to them... my carb
has 96 in it but QF changed the bleeds so I could
use my gas jets which I have 2 full sets of so I
was glad they did

Sorry I still have the 950 HP its on the Dart.

The new carb is for the roadster - I sold a Holley 750 HP gas carb. I ran the numbers and figured that selling the gas carb and buying a new one would come pretty close to the cost of converting the 750 myself (mostly because it didnt have screw in air bleeds).

First, LOVE the Roadster !! Secondly, Don at FHO recommended the BG 850 Demon for my Hemi. Gas, not E85, though..Going from a 4500 and Dom on the street, He supplies all the add ons. All set up.. Tell me more.. I was going to go for the Holley 950 HP.. He like the BG,.. I don't know.. Did I say I love that Roadster yet ???

Just to add on, I found a few problems with my 825 Annular discharge mighty demon when I opened it up: some of the holes in the metering block weren't all the way drilled through. In some other spots, metal slivers were hanging where holes had been drilled.

And the secondary jets were WAY off where they were supposed to be (I forget the # difference, but it was in the range of #10-12 too small). I forgot to check that when I had it apart, but when I was driving anytime I got into it (secondaries) it fell on its face.

I thought finding shavings in them was a thing of the past, apparently not though.

I contacted someone there (who frequents Hotrod forum) and he sent me the correct jets and some replacement gaskets, which was nice but I suppose, the least they could do.

Seems like they are well designed carbs, but not at all well built, still..

After some growing pains the carb seems to work pretty well. I couldn't get Jet Extensions (they should be here tomorrow) but I ran it anyway. The needle seats were both stuck closed and the carb wouldn't fill at first but once I sprayed them with some cooking spray they were fine. I really like the BG design for the sight plugs and setting the float level.

The car will idle a little lower than with my 950 and has great throttle response. I had no trouble setting the idle to .87 on the Wideband.

It really needs the jet extensions I could feel the car launch, lay down and take off again. It still went 6.45 @ 105 launching at 3500.

I had a hard time checking the Wideband going downtrack but I think its pretty close maybe a little fat but I haven't been able to find any jets around 126 or 118 to lean it out with. Alky jets start at 132 and gas stops at 100 so I'll have to do some more research for that one.
