I did it on my 64 Sport Fury. Do you have a steel repop four speed hump? If so, it has a locating tang right on it. The tang basically sit right over one of the drain plugs on the drivers side front floor.

Here`s a few pics for you, maybe they will help. The tang is barely visible, it`s buried in seal sealer but it`s there. It actually covers the spot where the drain hole was.

Yes I have the steel re-pop hump.Seems a bit wide for the tunnel in some spots. No console bench seat.Did you remove the rubber floor plug and weld a patch in or just seal over it? Thanks for the help.

I recommend mocking it up with 4-speed & linkage installed before you weld the hump on. The hole is pretty huge to clear the linkage, pretty much the whole length of the hump. The fit is sloppy enough that you can move the hump around a little, but it will pretty much locate itself within a 1/4".
After trying a couple of carpet sources, I've found that the ACC carpet had the best fit at the hump. On a console car that won't be as much of a concern.

I removed the plastic plug and welded the tang right over the hole. Before I welded in the hump I traced all around it with a piece of white chalk. Then I removed the hump and cut 1/2" inside of the white line all around. It makes quite a big hole in your floor but your going to need all that room under the car for your shifter box, linkage, and the trans itself. I put an 18 spline hemi 4 speed in my 64. I also seam sealed both the inside and outside after welding the hump. I then painted both sides.
