Do you run any spacers in the front? I thought Clair Davis ran into tie rod end rubbing with 5.72 backspace and stock rotors. Or was he running a different rim?

the reason i out this in the race section is my cuda is more of a race car. lol. also its minitubbed, what do u mean a brake kit? i have converted the front of my 68 to 73 and up disc brakes, and yes its the 4.5 bolt pattern.

what about 20's in the rear? has anyone tried them?
thank you guys for the information.
If you think it's a race car, don't put 20's on it. They serve no performance purpose and waste horsepower and add to unsprung weight big time.
Run the smallest diameter rim that will fit over your brakes. AndyF's kits 13" rotor kits will fit under a 17" rim. They are track proven on the 68 Valiant pictures. And the car and driver are no slouch. That car is fast!
If you want it to be a race car and go on some autocrosses and track days, fit the widest front tires as possible.
The combo pauly v.100 would be easy and inexpensive setup.
If you want to get more racey, run 275/40/17 front AND rear. That is what the red 68 Valiant race car runs. You'll need 17x9 rims with same backspacing as pauly v.100 up front. BUT you'll have to lip the front bottom edge of the 67-69 Barracuda fender about a 2" x4" triangle.
Because you have a mini tubbed rear, you're going to have to figure how much room you have to work with their. I think 315/35/17 are a halfway common size?? Try to pick a tire size that is OEM on some car so the costs are lower and they will be available in the future. You might find there is a big difference in price and selection between 305 and 315 width. Make sure to consider that.
Something else to consider: when you run the same tire and rims around the car, you can rotate the tires. On track and autox days, you will wear the fronts outside edges more than the rears. Rotating the tires will give you more track time on a set of tires.

Sometimes a thin spacer is required with the 5.72 BS rims. A 3/8 spacer will usually do the trick. Longer wheel studs are usually required. With a spacer that thick the wheel probably won't have a register to mount on anymore so the lug nuts have to center the rim. That isn't the end of the world but I prefer a hub centric setup whenever possible.

This is the brake kit I was talking about. 13 x 1.250 rotors with late model Viper calipers. The kit is designed to work with Bullitt rims on a B or E body car. The hub is designed to SN95 specs and the flange has been moved outboard by 3/4 of an inch so the 5.72 BS fits properly.

What are you using for centers? Can we get a close up? I have these 17's on the B body rear in the 36.

Hey GDemon, did the Rallye centers fit in without modification? If so, that'd be cool! I'm assuming that with 73-76 brakes, and a 68 b-body 8-3/4 I'd be able to run 300/Magnum/Charger rims without issue? And to think, I've been looking at Mustang rims this whole time because they're available like crazy.. So are the mopar rims if we can run bits from those cars.. Hrmmm... Raj

Here is a picture showing the Bullitt rims on an A body car. This is a really nice combination of low cost rims that are the right size and weight for a fairly quick track car.
are those 275/50 tires andy?? that car rocks.

The tires in the picture are 245/45-17. The car runs 275/40-17 tires at the track. Here is a picture with the larger 275's on 17x9 inch rims.

mine is from a 69 runner.
What are the complete specs on your rear tires and rims with backspacing?
Clair Davis thought the 65-67 rear end was the one to get. Little narrower than 68-70 B-body

IIRC the 65-67 rear is ~59.5" drum to drum, 68-70 is ~60.5, and an A body 8 3/4" is ~57" drum to drum.
