I have a 66 charger, that has developed a nasty vibration towords the rear end. I had the u joints replaced this winter,so Im thinking that they are not the problem.Has easy is it to damage the drive line ( bend it,tweek it,warp it,etc) so that I might get a vib there? Im hoping that it isnt the rear end some where. I have the drive line out now, and plan to take take it in to be looked at. Was just wondering about your thoughts . scott

Have you checked the tires for seperation and balance? Have you tried turning the driveshaft 180* in the rear yoke? Did you change the rear suspension in any way.

was it when the joints replaced?

check for slop in the pinion and make sure the nut has not come lose

and what he said tires/balance/bent rim

u joint installed correct in shaft?

are the bolted to the yoke and not mis alined?

Did you/they install the clips on the rear u joint to help center it in the yoke? If not, you will get a vibration. Who replaced the u joints? Maybe they bent the driveshaft when removing the old ones.Mike

While probably not a commom cause of vibration loose flex plate bolts once caused this problem on one of my cars.

before you go chasing your tail, I seen this before, change out U-joints, you or the shop, completely strip the shaft, and forget which end the tranny yoke goes ons?......and switch'em up ......bingo!....vibration
