i don't know but a couple guys i know had problems with their stuff and Hughes answer was oh you have to spend $$$ for custom this and custom that... and that was after testing all the things they wanted tested before they recomended a cam... then their customer service was terrible on top of the other problems... i know i will never buy anything from them.... the last i heard from a really good friend was that hughes was going to refund most of his money and they asked him to stop bad mouthing them on this board....

I'm glad I've never spent one cent with that A hole! For comments like that the company should fold. This should be saved into the archives, so if anyone asks about a Hughes cam, this can be shown. What a jerk.

So I want to know what made Dave so mad that he wrote that article? Did one of our EM guys actually start telling everyone that Hughes cams are junk? If I was a cam manufacturer and I sent a couple of cams to you and they went bad because of a fault with the block that was overlooked but you badmouthed the cams as being the fault wouldnt I be a little preturb? Just trying to find the story behind this one. Not defending anyone. But yes Dave did say more that what he should have. I remain neutral until both sides of the story come out.

OBTW You can still get excellent cams with the Racer Brown advantage (the 1st guy to take advantage of the .904 lifter bore, rather than some whoopty do B.S. cam from Hughes. And Hughes was not the First or I might add The Foremost cam grinder in the world. The Arrogant S**t!!

I've used many of their products, including the cam in my 471, with good results. I am definitely an "amateur". Guess Dave forgot who supports the bulk of this hobby.

This makes me want to pull the cam and ship it back... along with a steaming bag of sh*t.

Where did Mr' Hughes get all his info from on the engine masters buildup anyways? Mabey he was miss informed about the info and just flew off the handle.He should read the buildup on here i just scanned threw it.Alot of work wen't into that engine and i think everyone should be PROUD! that help on the engine

That boy shot himself in the foot.4 Years ago he told me I had junk and to buy all his stuff. I didn't and bought Comp Cams parts and really happy.I hope someone sends this thread to him.

I take great offense to Hughes's comments. The people that were involved the the engine build and dyno are not 'students or amateurs'. No one blamed Hughes cams for the problems that I know of.
I have a very long memory, it will be very, very cold in Hell before I buy or use ANY Hughes components. Dave

I'm betting that jackass will see this thread, and when he does I sincerely hope that he can comprehend two things:

A. no one blamed his cams for failing

and

B. He shot himself in the foot with that article. Plenty of people WERE still interested in his cams, now slim to none are. Turn the gun to your head next genius .

uh...at no time did i see any posts in the enginemasters forum blaming Hughes for the cam failures...

AMATEURS??? Lets think about this for a minute. I have been on this board for a while now and am amazed by how many "AMATEURS" have designed, built and engineered their own parts because the aftermarket companies were unable to do it themselves. I've seen home-made electric water pumps, twin turbo set-ups, killer modified heads, custom made headers and intakes, modified rear ends, custom EFI (shameless plug ) and many many other unique parts that aren't even offered by the aftermarket. Yeah, were amateurs. I know where I won't be buying my next cam. Too bad too,I really was considering them.

Oh, and one other thing I forgot to mention. Nowhere, and I mean nowhere have I seen such incredible detail given to the restoration of these cars and their parts than by our own members. Look at Jules wiper motors, Reflections paint jobs, Harms aftermarket shifter handles, etc... I could go on forever here but we all know the truth anyway.
