I've seen this in a magazine a friend brought back from his last trip to the USA :
http://www.tciauto.com/Products/6x/The magazine ad said they had a Chrysler bellhousing in the works.
TCI says it can take 850HP, but no mention of maximum torque anywhere. The trans is based on a GM 4L80E, gears are 2.97, 2.23, 1.57, 1.18, 1.00, 0.75.
It may look like an alternative to other overdrive auto offerings (4-speed auto from Keisler, Gear Vendors on a 727)
Since I have probably killed the input shaft bearing on my TKO-600 (drag racing just once with properly sized, brand new, race tires), I may be considering switching back to an auto transmission later this year.
I'm wondering about fitment though...
None of the overdrive suppliers seem to give much info about the real-life durability of their transmissions in a drag-racing situation (although I've heard some good things first-hand from two different Gear Vendors users).
In other words, which auto transmission would survive in a 10 to 11 second car, raced 5 or 6 times a year, with an overdrive for the highway, and *possibly* useable on a road-race track?
Am I chasing unicorns?
