Doing header fitting w/proparts headers, b engine, stick etc. #8 tube wraps over the steering column and will likely end up with an airgap of <1/8", can I remove the lower bearing which would allow me to drop the steering column 1/4" (race only)?? My 66 vert does not have a lower bearing. Thanks

I know I had the same problem and I cut the steering tube off flush with the fire wall. Did I move the bearing up in the tube ? I can't remember. To late to look now.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

I sold my 68 Barracuda but when I installed the 383 I shortened the column and just moved the bearing up. I drilled a new hole for bearing retainer screw.
