got my new 440 done and tried to fire it up today but a mech fuel pump stopped the show. I spent most of the afternoon tryring to get it to work. I pulled the pump and tested it and it worked fine, it appears that the fuel pump rod is not making contact. curoius? Do they make longer pump rods? I reinstalled it twice thinking that it wasnt in right but it was. It worked before the rebuild, I all did was change out cams. any ideas?

Haven't done this (been on SB's for decades) but might see if you can measure the difference in the rod extension between being on the base circle and at max lift. iirc stock length of a BB p rod is 3&1/4". the only thing changed was the cam and I'm assuming it was not borderline w fuel delivery before. Holler when you discover it.
