I know this seems to have been covered a million times, I just can't seem to find what I'm looking for..
What is a good non - stroker piston that I could use for my 400?
It's a daily driver 4wd. The motor is stock right now, seems a little weak, other than that it runs good....mike

For something that gives higher compression than stock the KB 240 is the only choice I know of. But at spec deck height it's still down in the hole slightly, and with a stock open chamber head compression is still going to be a little under 9.0.

I've heard a .030 over 440 piston low comp piston can be used. You end up with a .008 over, close to flattop.

The block would have to be pretty straight to get by with only .008 oversize. Perhaps a .040 over 440 slug would be a better pick.

one question... I already asked before but none answer, maybe you know...

KB list the compression height for those pistons on 1.908"

do you know the compression height for stock 400 pistons ? would love to make a mathematical comparision

hi
one way to rais the comp would be to use some 516 headswith 1,74 ex valves.
also you could deck the block some ?
400 piston heigth varies some , mine are 110" down from deck ?

When I had my 400 apart last year I did measure the CH of one of the stock pistons but I don't think I wrote it down anywhere and for the life of me I can't remember. Sorry
