Converting tall deck W8 intake to 4500 top.
This is for 390 CI engine shooting for peek power at 7800~7900 RPM overall intake port length will be 10.5" and cross section in the plenum will be as close to 3.8 square inches as I can get may need to do some weld on the out side of intake to get it.
I hope to do back to back test with this vs 9" deck "598" intake that has .650" thick spacers.

Are you running a 420 right now?

Im running a 772 I always wanted to try a good 420 to see if if picked up or dropped off.

Let me know how it compares

I have run the "420" but my "598" is faster down the track at this point don't think I have the "420" right yet??? But I think on tall deck engine the "772" may be the best choice.
How much port work is done to your "772" that intake will need to get thin on your combo to work good I bet you need 3.9 sq to 4.2 sq inches at the plenum Will need weld to get that.
Do you have any pics of the intake?

I can't remember the runner size on my 772 but I can tell you this. Drop it and it will be junk because it is so thin. It runs the same ET as my 598 and 420 but I think that is due to other problems. the car clearly idles different and revs different with the 772. The other intakes are not ported as big.

Not to hi-jack your post, I don't have any pics of Rick's, but his 772 looks virtually identical to this one I did that is on the 439 that posted his Chassis dyno results yesterday.... 790 on the old SF901...

I have not welded one of these up where they get thin to outside on the roof to runner transition, but I have "bubbled" a few of them paper thin, in fact Ricks may be epoxied on outside? I forget if his is or not but I know I have several out there epoxied up for re-enforcement.....
