we have a tunnel ram for the 426 and i havent put any gaskets on it yet(heck the short block not even back from shop yet) but the gap from the heads to the intake looke like a lot at first thought it had been milled but i looked it over pretty good and it dont apear to be i didnt have anything between the intake and the block but would of thought that would of brung the sidesof the heads closer to the intake may heads are also virgin never cut on anyone else ever run into this?

Remeber you can get Hemi intake gaskets in different thickness.

I usually just check port alignment and verify the gap is even top to bottom of the intake face.

If not I cut to correct, however if everything lines up and looks even I just pick the appropriate thickness of intake gasket.

Mr gasket has both 1/16 and 1/8 th thick gaskets.

Be sure there are no roll pins in the valley seal front and rear that are not drilled in the intake manifold, causing the gap..

the intake is setting flush on the front and rear of the block with no type of gasket and there is a decent size gap between the sides of the intake mateing surface and the head

Try installing a couple of studs on both heads and then install the manifold. Then recheck gap.
