if you listen you could hear the tires spinning way before he got crossed up. if he had lifted you wouldn't be watching this video. instead he tries to be a hero and drive through it over correcting and tearing down the track.

I'm wondering if the diesel ran away on him, as it was still under full power after busting through the guard rail and snapping off that pole.

I've heard that's one of the problems of racing a diesel, getting them to shut off when there's a problem.

Wasn't under full power. You can see the smoke stop after it was out of shape, but too far gone. I'd say Quicktree's explanation pretty much nailed it. Other thing to consider. If the engine dies on those trucks you'll lose your hydroboost assisted brakes.

I still see LOTS of stack smoke even after it went through the rail. Also notice the truck still TRAVELING under power in the grass.

Brutal ride!!!

he got off the throttle AFTER he got crossed up. just before he broke through the guardrail on the right side it looks like he inadvertantly got back into it again. probably thought he was on the brake. if you watch the fromt tires down track, you can see how bad he overcorrected. i hope he wasn't hurt...

Your right, he did get out of it after he crossed up. But he got back in it as it went toward the right lane rail. More than likely had his foot slip off the brake when he slapped the left lane rail.

Here's another VIDEO from that site of a tire in slow motion at launch, you'll have to fast forward through the first half of the vid.
