This is a newer Mallory made Mopar Perf. Distributor. Small block. I worked for over an hour trying to get the vacuum canister pin to engage the breaker plate which has to be done inside the dist. No way is there enough room to get the right angle and everything lined up at once. How were these assembled at the factory? Seems so simple, could keep an idiot busy all day. I had to disassemble to lubricate the advance mechanism, it was sticking so badly. Brand new.

Havent have the privilege (or the cash) to work on a Mallory unit yet but on the oe ones I pry up on the top plate in the right spot/slight amount so it'll slip in. Good luck w it.

is the same on MP units

The pick up plates and vacuum pods are the same on MP than standart units. Basically the only diff is the counterweights design for custom setup.

Yes. The vac pod and many other parts are the same on the Mallory made MP distributor and chrysler made distributors.

There is a locating pin in the side of the housing, but two slots in the support plate. Use the wire harness grommet to make sure you have the plate clocked correctly. Then slide the vacuum cannister into its slot while gently prying up on the vac advance plate. It's OK if the support plate is not seated while you are doing this. Once the vac unit's arm is in or near its hole, then everything will start to seat properly. Last, install all four screws.
