Looking for any opinions. All help much appreciated! Looking at comp cams xe268 and xe274. My application 68 Coronet with the following:
stock 68 440 fel pro head gasket comp ratio ??
4 speed, 3.55 gears, hp manifolds, stock intake with avs carb, aeroheads 2.14 intake 1.81 exhaust.
Manual brakes so no worries about vacuum. I just want to pick the right cam that will pull the hardest with this combo. Any other cam suggestions like lunati's voodoo series. Will appreciate any and all advice. Thanks

Either the Comp XE 274 or the Lunati 60303 will be good choices.Lunati will have a bit more low & mid range torque otherwise they are very close.

Leave the gun.......take the Cannoli's....Mike

Depends if you want a semi obnoxious cam or a more streetable one . I run the 268 in my 451 with Eddys and it gives more than enough lope for me .

i think the XE-268 would be a good choice.
are you planning on engine upgrades later ?
aluminum intake or headers ?

you'd be surprised how much the car would pick up w. headers and a better intake/carb. if you are going to stick w/ the iron intake, stock carb and logs go w/ the 268. If you plan on upgrades later go with the larger cam. also if you can use the steel shim gaskets that should get you close to 9.5:1. good luck

Thanks guys for the info much appreciated
I am going to keep the engine stock appearing so I am going to have the avs carb tweaked to the cam. I am just finishing up on a rotisserie resto. Which of the above cams do you guys think would be the strongest pulling cam or 1/4 mile cam? A lopey idle does not bother me. I just love that feeling of getting slammed back in the seat power.Nothing like smokin the tires while passing a chevy doing 55mph I know I could run 4.10's in the dana but I do want to keep the stock 3.55s in it.

I run the voodoo 60303 and it's very tame/driveable in my 8:1 compression smogger 440 wiht 3.55 gears. Really, the MP .528 solid cam has proven to be the best all around street/strip cam for a mild 440 like yours with hp manifolds. But if you want to stay hydraulic you should look at the comp xe275hl or the lunati voodoo 60303. The 303 is a hair milder than the comp grind, by about 4* @050. The 268 will be too mild for you, especially with the 4-gear. For the intake, you should consider stepping up to a used edelbrock ch4b. Grind off the edelbrock letters and it looks like a stock intake but flows a bit better. Even the CH4B will be holding you back with those aftermarket heads though.
