I want to get a blow off valve for my 86 GLH Turbo Omni. I don't know what kind to get or how I should install it. I have the intercooler on it that sits right behind the valve cover by the firewall. Any suggestions?

Back when I was into the turbo Dodges I used a BOV picked from a 1st Gen Turbo DSM (Talon/Eclipse) at the junk yard. It took some fab work to get it installed like welding the base onto my fabbed intercooler pipe but it was cheap and worked well. It looked like this....

Sounds like you're running the old direct connection intercooler kit for the T1's. This kit placed the intercooler behind the valve cover over top of the intake. Either that or a similar copy of it? Can you post a pic of it? I didn't think the original dc kit would clear the hood on an omni.

But to answer your question, you can not run a BOV if you're running a log intake, because that setup placed the throttle body BEFORE the turbo(draw through). BOV's are designed to vent pressure buildup between the turbo and the throttle body in blow thru applications where the throttle is after the turbo. This prevents compressor wheel damage due to the pressure spike. But with the draw thrus have the throttle body before the turbo, this type of pressure build up is not possible. The 1988+ T1's and all T2-T4 engines were blow thru where the 84-87 T1's were draw thru.

That is unless you've changed to a later style intake, but it doesn't sound like it if you've got an intercooler back there.

Good call I meant to ask if he converted it to a TII style, never messed with the old draw through stuff.
