Started the Caravan this morning and heard a horrific sound! At first it sounded like a rod knock but it actually got a little quieter after about 5-10 seconds. Popped the hood and could hear the noise coming from the top of the engine, left side of the rear valve cover. Checked the oil and it barely registered. So I put in a little more than a quart and restarted it. Still there, but a little more quieter.
So my question is---can I put something in the oil to help it return to normal or is there some other procedure that could make it go away? I can't afford to take it down to my mechanic right now.
