Money I got, time I don't. Time = MONEY. I'd rather spend an extra $500 on something that is done than try and figure out how to make a pile of parts work. Plus a kit allows you some ease of mind. You have something all put pieced together, so what if one "home made" part goes bad? My days of saving $100 here and there are past.

I would rather be stranded looking for a MAP sensor or a TPS for a Mustang than a needle and seat for a six pack or something for a mega-squirt system.
I hate carbs. I don't want to work on them or attempt to fix one. You made a comment about the driveablilty of a carb vs. the injection. Get real. The only thing I have left with a carb is my 06 Grizzley 4 wheeler and my 79 truck and both are a pain. Choke them, then let them warm up while easing the choke off and working the throttle. Give me a break. I'll take a port injected OBD2 car anyday.

you don't get stranded w/ a carb...at least I never have. Bad rotor, bad coil, bad voltage reg..maybe. But I have a half dozen of each laying around. Never had an issue driving any carbed car in the cold or hot weather. Don't get me wrong injection is nice, but I'd rather not splice and dice something together when my carbs work fine.

As I mentioned somewhere before, most of the work to adapt the 5.0 EFI to teh car (electrical, fuel pump and lines, intake, engine harness, etc) is mostly reusable for a standalone EFI module if this doesn't work.

If you have a lower budget, if you have 5.0 stuff on-hand or cheap, this is worth a shot -- if not you're probably better to go with a Megasquirt (or your well-tuned carb ).

Parts I seek: driver doorpanel, 65 Sport Fury, prefer black, needs to be 7-8 on 10 scale, might buy set 16" x 6" Dodge truck wheel(s), from early 70s?, takes 9" dogdish - need for a research job so cheaper is better. 69-73 C-body caliper brackets and/or splashields Send a PM.

Fury- keep up the excellent work! I am looking to add EFI to the roadrunner, got a long way to go before I get to the injection though. I just got some paint on her finally! Engine is a stroked 440, want to run alcohol...

nice thing with the MAF ford EFI is that if you're like me, and have a small block (9:1 magnum headed 318 with a mild roller cam, 4bbl, and headers), the 302 calibration should work pretty good without a bunch of tweaking, and give greater flexibility without a bunch of re-mapping than the early magnum system or the later JTEC controller.

I think the 'adaptive' would notice the difference and start tweaking the injector pulsewidths. Adaptive works durign open and closed loop, however it only updates the tables when in closed loop.
