I have a 66 coronet with column shift and have recently bought a whole center console assembly with shifter and all the brackets but dont know exactly where to weld the brackets. I guess what im asking is if someone has there b-body apart with a console shifter and could give me a mesurement where the shifter bracket is welded on, probly from the front of the shifter bracket where 14" on tape mesure in picture to where the top of the trans hump floor and firewall is welded. the rest would be pretty easy to locate since the console screws to the shifter. I have a service manual but it doesnt help much. any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I would slide the console along the hump until the brackets fit as they are asymmetrical.

I took these pictures of where the brackets were welded in a 66 charger that I parted out and used the brackets in my 68 charger. All measurements were taken from the front of the floor pan where the firewall seam is, and from the drivers side edge of the floor pan. Hope this helps

When you weld the brackets in just do a couple of very small tacks and then test fit the console.

Check and see if it rocks back and forth and if it looks straight, you might have to grind the welds and a adjust it a little bit.

Also I hooked up the shifter rod that goes through the floor to the bracket on the trans tailshaft and made sure it was somewhat centered in the hole, before welding everything in permanently.
