Noot without takin g the drive shaft down. Unless very slowly and very short distance. There is no oil flow in the transmission so Damage will be done.
Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks.
But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

There's no tranny fluid being pumped to lube the trans when the torque converter is not being rotated by the eng & the d shaft will engage the trans w no lube. Drop the driveshaft & you'll be fine

How is it that I have been so lucky? I have towed with a dolly SEVERAL Mopars with the rear tires on the ground and never had a trans problem. I know that it has been stated that it can be a problem, but I have yet to see it.
What type of distance ?

Never had any problems with a guy I hung around with...We flat towed his car down to Atco and when we crossed the bridge into Jersey we fired the car up and let it oil and then finished the drive...When we got there he unhooked it and ripped off a few high 10 second passes then towed it back home...Hundreds of miles like this with NO failures. 45-50 miles at a time...

OK Thanks. I saw that a Dakota says it can be. What trans are they using? Maybe I could swap one in my old mopar.?
Yeah you can the Dakota but you had bater read the manual about putting the transfer case in Neutral first so that the transmission isn't being turned. Not for 2 wheel drives.

It's simple. The factory says NO. Flat towing is stupid except for emergencies or with a properly prepared toad/RV. See? simple!

I have see internals seize do to lack of lubrication. the bushings are especially vulnerable seizing to the shafts. Also seen facing off of the discs. You can run your engine for a while on oil splash if the oil pump goes out too. (for a while) Go ahead and tow it is your transmission and your money. You don't need to listen to anybody. You may be lucky like in playing Russian Roulette.

When I flat towed my Duster(over 100 miles) more than once,I just started the engine and let it idle the whole time.
THIS is cool ... but why-not just uNhook the D-shaft?

Yep - 5 minutes to take out 4 tiny bolts, tape the joint and hang the shaft.
