How much valve lift can you run on stock 906 heads with out having valve guide to retainer clearance problems ?? Need to get a cam and need to know the max lift I can run.

IIRC, anything .500"+ is suspect.

The max lift depends on the retainers and valve seals in the motor now. Never assume anything when it comes to using Hi Po parts in any motor, let alone a Mopar Measure once and make sure, if you don't you could be(and probally will be) sorry Are you planning on keeping the stock stamped steel rocker arms or are you switching to a set of adjustable rocker arms and pushrods to match?

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

I just measured my 906 with a stock valve and retainer. With the umbrella valve seal in place clearence was .620 at contact between the reatainer and seal. So you will want less lift then that.

This is with a stock 3/4 inch high valve guide. The problem is I think I remember and even saw that not all valve guides were this dimension. I think theres one taller. If you have the 3/4 inch guide your .513 lift should be no problem IMO Notice I said Should be, mike

I ran a 509 then later a 533 but may have had it cut for different seals by then.

I too ran the 509 and then later added 1.6 rockers @ .5429 lift. No problems, mike

Yes,I will be using the stock rockers and the stock retainers with the springs recommended for the cam I choose.
