Chi_Town_Runner OP super stock Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 1,101 Retired now in Tennessee	I have a '59 DeSoto with a factory 8.75 rear end. Rear end casting # 1634985 Will the pinion seal for a 742 pinion interchange with my 985 pinion? Just the seal...not the pinion. In the archives it stated that the 742 was phased in to replace the 985 case. Thanks, Frank Remember - 2 wrongs don't make a right - but 3 rights make a left!

twodoorpost mopar Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 672 NY	Part number for the seal in the 1959 factory parts book is 1828719, which is the same as a 742 case.
