What kind of problems will I face? What mods are needed with Schumacher mounts?
Any suggestions?

the conversion mounts are great , its all the other stuff youll need to put it in , i recomend you get all the parts before you attempt it as it will go faster that way( tranny ,exhaust linkage, driveshaft, radiator, rearend, wireing, etc.good luck.BOB

Best place to see how to do it and not repeat the basic mistakes we have already made. Check out the tech section.www.bigblockdart.com

Are you handy with a welder? I took a stock 1973 slant sick K member and modified the spool mounts to fit a V8. I had a stock V8 K member to use as a pattern. It took about 4 hours and $20 in metal stock. The conversion mounts still require work to the slant sick K member in many cases. Otherwise, the mounts are a godsend.

Hey guys thanx for the info. Will be a while before I attempt to convert. With esculating fuel cost, I'm going to drive the car as is until the 225 gets tired. May last longer than I will we'll see. LOL

It's not hard:
1) Remove slant-6.
2) Install 440

Seriously, though, I agree with the suggestion to visit bigblockdart.com (the VERY useful tech pages are temporarily down due to server change-over though).

"440" and "fuel economy" are rarely found in the same sentence, and for a good reason. You'll be lucky to get 14 mpg with a 440 A-body and that's only if you keep your foot out of it (which is the whole reason for building it in the first place)! My 383 Valiant (4-speed, 3.23 rear) never broke 15 mpg on the highway and I saw as little as 8.3 mpg on one tank just blasting around between stoplights

yes peruse the BBD site. main decision will be headers or not. I'd highly recommend a 400 (451 or 470) w 68-70 B body HP ex manifolds on your 1st build (for the manifolds, FAR LESS hassles)and these excellent flowing manifolds require a B block and pretty sure manual steering. Start scrounging an 8&3/4 A body rear or a 66?-69? B body one which would automatically give you big bolt pattern if your converting the front to BBP and the correct offset wheels and a BB pan w the indentation on the pass side for the idler arm (C body pan I believe & maybe more). A V8 throttle cable. subframe connectors and possibly a roll cage (for the stiffness improvement in addition to the safety). EDIT thicker tbars and a good radiator and cast wp housings are available w either side inlet as are aftermarket alum housings

A comedy central comedian one night in his schtick said that after they drop the bomb that the only things left will be Dodge Darts and cockroaches, the cockroaches will be driving the dodge darts. I saw one at the state fair w no pan and it was idling and it had been prepped w the salesmans snake oil he was selling and his selling point was that his poison contained special "molecules" that were so miraculous that an eng w it could run wo oil so just think how well it would protect your eng.
