i have a340 the piston is in the hole 50ths. it is a 396 stroker w2 open chamber head. 90ths from quench part of the head to the head surface. i need to cut 100ths off between the head and the block. can i do this,or do i need new pistons.my phone number 502- 361-5883 any help would be great.

New pistons. The block MIGHT be able to take that much decking but then your intake alignment is going to be way off/ plus shorter pushrods/need head bolt washers. Also check the depth/slope of the open chamber recesses & equalize them. Mockup/measure CAREFULLY/TWICE (at least ). Getting quench in an open ch head is not fun but the benefits are for sure worth it.
