OK in trying to get the roll pin out; I cracked the input shaft cover of the steering gear (power steering)... - the housing that screws into the input (steering col side).

I have a number of other housings, can I just take one off and install it?

I assume you have to adjust the backlash or something...

I think I am done before I break anything else...

I would think with that much stress the shaft may be bent too.

I would go with the whole box myself.

Otherwise it should be a simple swap but there is going to be a seal. Napa sells the seal kit with all the seals you would need to rebuild it.
