I have a question. My daily driver 5200 lb pickup is capable of high 10's when I let it all hang out. At the track I tune it down to run high 11's/12 flat because I don't want to put a roll bar in her cause I wouldn't like the looks of the rear bars coming out the back window. So here's the question. Would a partial roll bar, less the rears be okay to use in a 12 second vehicle or would I run into issues with tech? I feel something would be better than nothing.

I don't think you can pass tech without the rear bars. I have seen trucks with the rear bars exiting below the rear window through the sheet metal and they pass tech. NHRA rules state you don't need a roll bar until you run below an 11.50. I have also seen cars run 10 oh's with no roll bar at all.

As long as you don't run faster than when the rules require a bar you should be ok. My wifes car runs low 13's high12's and only has the main hoop and 2 door bars. Never been an issue at tech at any track we've been to.

Having said that, with out the 2 rear bars coming off the main hoop it could be a false sense of security. The bar may not have the integrity to do it's job should you need it.
