Generally pink is hot "in" and white is output. Just remember "hot pink" . pull apart the ts/brake harness electrical connector coming out of the steering col and the "white" in not the col half but the other half will be hot w the brake pedal depressed (this is the other end of the previous "white" wire. If good there w your VOM see if you have continuity on the other (the column) half of the connector for this white wire (it may "most likely does" continue on as white but check the colors in the wiring diagrams at www.mymopar.com to find out) and there's 2 wires in that same col connector half which will be the 2 out wires to each brake filament and will be hot w the TS stalk in the neutral middle position and the brake depressed. If so continue downstream toward the rear starting at the pull apart connector in I believe the drivers kick panel & if hot there (brake depressed) then there is one or 2 more pull apart connectors going toward the rear. W both lights out it most likely is an input prob rather than a ground since less likely that both sides would lose their ground at the same time and I forgot in your post if the flashers are good but if they are then the brake lite grounds are good also.

The flashers and turn signal and running lites all work. I plugged the double pink are red wires in the top of the switch and a white one on the side, is this correct? Thanks Ronnie

Did everything else work on yours? Everything works on this one except the brake lites. They was working when I tore it down. How does the wires go on the switch? I may have them on backwards. Ronnie

Ronnie the brake sw is just an non polarized on/off switch so the 2 female plugs can go on either side of it though I like to keep it oe just as a good practice. See if there's fire at the white wire downstream at the col harness w pedal depressed then see if the 2 brake wires have fire coming out of the col harness (circuit tester w long thin needle tip works good to access the wires inside the pull apart connector while each half is still connectted) to see if there's fire

I'm going to check it in a little while when I get to the shop. Put ant freeze and water in it yesterday, had a leak. Thermostat had moved in the housing, had to fix that. Might get it fired up next day are two. Ronnie

I got in and checked the switch today, both of the wires are hot all the time but the brake lites are not on. What is going on with this? Where would it be getting the fire all the time? I know my new switch is bad, it won't come out when you push the pedal down so I've got to get another one. Any ideals on this? Thanks Ronnie

It will have a hot feed and the fact that it's hot on both sides all the time is because like you said it's bad. The next thing in the circuit is the turn signal switch. Try slowly moving the turn signal lever a little bit each way without going far enough to make the signals work and see if the brake lights come on. The way it works is the power from the brake light switch goes to the turn signal switch and the is split through a circuit to each rear light. Just because the turn signals work doesn't mean the switch is good.

The pink wires are hot even when it is unplugged. What would cause this? Isn't the white wire suppose to be the only hot wire? I'm not a whiz at wiring. Thanks Ronnie

Didn't you read what people are telling you. Go back to Rapid Roberts answer, your 1st reply and Read "Hot Pink"

Yes I can read! What a surprise. OK both the white wire and the pink wires are hot even when you unplug them Maybe you need to read it a little better. Ronnie

If the white wire is hot (unplugged) then it is a different situation than the normal "open" issue. Something is wired wrong and is feeding the white wire backwards. has there been any recent wiring work done? I think I'd start by pulling apart the col TS harness and check continuities since TS switch assy's act up often. Holler back when you discover anything.

Yes there has been some wiring done on it. I just got thru puting all the wiring back in the whole car when I started putting it back together. I will check the wires on the column and the turn signal switch. I just don't understand some of the wiring. I just have to do it as I have to. Thanks to everyone on the help and I'm sure I'll have more questions. I don't have the money like some of the people on here so I have to do what I can do. Thanks Again! Ronnie

I would continue to trace the white wire downstream as it should not be hot and it is being fed improperly plus the brake lites are dead even w it being hot. good luck and holler back anytime
