so, im trying to figure out if the proportioning valve i have is the correct one for my kelsey hayes disc brake setup. how do i tell the normal valves apart from a disc brake setup? if it matters, it is an early production 68 Dart GTS with factory discs. thanks for the help!!

thanks for the pictures... so, is it possible that my dart didnt use a prop valve? i see where the valve is on your dart, but my dart has a solid brake line all the way up to where the saftey switch is. interesting...

Here is a 69 Dart w/factory disks up front.
The above picture looks very similar to a 69 B body with discs - where at the line running to the back brakes has an inline valve, possibly an additional KH manual prop valve just for the rear lines. For a 70 and up A body disc brake car there was no rear inline prop valve - there was one combination prop / distribution valve. 70-75 disc brake cars use a prop valve like the one in the attached pic. In 75 they started phasing in a different KH prop valve made of cast iron. I've seen these cast iron prop valves on pre-75 B bodies. In 78-79 they moved to a brass style of the cast iron prop valve. I've seen these on F and B bodies.
Here's a 70 - 75 A body disc brake prop valve...I have seen some of the valves without the hex shaped 'spacer' at the top of the valve.

No, there's another valve to the rear brakes. Follow the line to the rear in the picture for the light colored car above and you'll notice the smaller valve about 14" back. This one actually regulates the pressure for the rear drums.
I love the smell of Deer guts in the morning, it smells like... VICTORY!
