Just installed the new eddy carb, would turn over and start but i had the fuel line in the wrong place, then after fixing the fuel line and adding the vaccuum line it would not turn over. IDk what side the vac is supposed to be on but i figure it should turn over regaurdless since it did before?

any ideas?

I'm guessing it has nothing to do with a vaccum line or gas line, with the possible exception you might have hit an electrical connection and loosened it.
Sounds like your starter isn't getting enough power.

Pull all your spark plugs out. You filled the cylinders with gasoline and you have hydraulic lock. Liquid does not compress. Plan on changing your oil now too since it's diluted with gasoline.

Is it possible to actually fill up your cylinders with fuel? Seems unlikly? That's a lot of fuel isn't it?

If your battery is up I'd clean the cables. sometimes more than one problem will pop up at the same time at the most inopportune moment

Check the amp gauge for power on each post and the bulkhead connections going in if there is none on either.

w a screwdriver jump from the large batt terminal to the brown solenoid wire on the starter relay and if it cranks the batt/cables/starter are OK. then see if the yellow "ign" wire to the starter relay has fire when a helper turns the key to "start" & if so see if the neutral safety switch is grounding the "grn" wire on the starter relay when in Park, neutral or w the clutch depressed

how did you have the fuel line on wrong???

only one way to hook it up on an eddy carb

wont say the cyls are not full of gas but thats a lot of cranking for the pump to pump that much gas into the engine

sounds like the Batt is down,if you had it charging that long and its still not taking a charge you may need a Batt as well

like said jump the silanoid with screw driver to see if batt has juice to spin the moder

i put it into the rear of the carb instead of the side.

hoooked er up to mom camry and she started right up, going to pick up a new battery today i guess.

there was smoke coming from the passenger side of the bay but could not tell where it was coming from looked to be the rear of the engine maybe the headers/collector?

It appears that you somehow connected the fuel feed to the PCV nipple! when the motor spun over, the intake got a fresh, unmetered, unmixed stream of gasoline. Yes it will run, but very erraticly. An engine can run without an intake manifold too. Try spraying starting fluid into the intake ports of a long block. it will fire and scare the piss out of you! In a best case scenario, you stopped before any severe damage occured. All it takes is about an ounce of liquid in ONE cylinder to stop the motor from spinning over. Pull the plugs, spin the engine over and watch your eyes. Gas should shoot out of the spark plug holes. Let the cylinders evaporate then clean or install new spark plugs. CHANGE THE OIL. Recheck the fuel line to make sure it is connected where it should be, and start it up. You may get away lucky. Once I crossed a stream in my 73 Duster and sucked water into the 318. I pulled the plugs and spun the motor. Water shot out like a hose spray nozzle! After a 15 minute dry-out, I put it back together and it ran like before! Miracles can happen.

Are we to automatically say it's hydraulic lock? What are the tell tale signs of this?

The engine seemed to run smooth, smoother than before; although that could just be the new carb? I am worried about the smoke slightly, probably less than i should be but i haven't been able to start er in the day light so i could get a better idea of whats going on. There was smoke coming from the passenger side of the block, unknown where and smoke leaving the passenger side exhaust tube.
