What heat range plugs do you guys recommend for this situation.... W5 headed stroker 12 to 1, We are runnin NGK with a heat range of 6 cause the plugs were too dark with 8s, carbon build up from idle time, It seems that we idle for around 10 min for every 3.5 second run time and that is not long enough to clean the plugs, so are the 6s too hot for this combo? fuel is 100LL and timing is locked @33 no bad signs yet detonation or pre

Thankx Ian, Raff mentioned a lean out valve in a post for alki cars, I was thinking of trying it to clean the plugs and cut down on the warm up time, we heat soak for alu rods before we run, any one see any problems with doing this with gas?

It shouldnt hurt anything... most it would do if
you lean it out too much is stall it out(we are
talking idle here)
I have NGK 9 in my W-9 on E-85 14:1 but I think I
am going 1 hotter on mine

Sounds like you need to lean out the idle and part throttle circiuts to clean up the low end

I have the idle pretty lean and we don't see any part throttle for the most part, running up the ramps on the trailer is about it, It takes a wile to get the plugs black <a few weeks of racing> I think my pump shot is as long as a pass around 3.5 seconds, I leaned out my BG 1000 from 90s square to 87s to see if it would clean up and it didn't, just slowed down 3/100ths so I have been trying hotter plugs to see what happens, I have 6s ngk in there for about 2 weeks and they are clean, from what I can tell I have not fryed anything yet but dont want to figure this out the hard way also
