Many years ago I remember going to Pacemakers dragway(Ohio)and seeing this car. The guys name was Phil Roar. On the side it had a roaring lion and it said PHIL ROARS ROARING HEMI. Believe it was maybe a 67 Belvedere. For some reason i think it was a real hemi car. Anyone know what came of that car or have any pics of it. I just remember it being BAD.

Yep, remember that car well, remember the 747 style launches it made every single time it left the line. He and Danny Smith ran/run in the same circle so I am sure that it was probably a real Hemi car.

Yeah I remember it and know Phil. He's living in WV as far as I know. It was a real RO Hemi. I tried to get it a few years before Phil did but the deal fell through. The Belvedere is behind the Monza...racing against my runner.

I remember it well!! It was a big wheelstander, quite a crowd pleaser. The "Roar-N-Hemi" was a hitter in the Columbus area. I talked to Bruce Mehls (he was the shop foreman at the Rod Shop) some time back...he told me that Phil was living in retirement down south somewhere. That is the last I've heard of him.

I had a good one of it too, someplace. I have looked the boxes top-bottom but can't find it. I have the "Sting" Barracuda, but still can't find the Belvedere. Sure was a crowd pleaser!!

I loved that car, its probably been 30 years ago that I last saw it. I wonder if it is still painted the same or if it was put back to original since a collecter has it.

Phil was at the Mopar meet at Clay City in October with a SS/AH Dart he had built himself. He had brake troubles on Saturday but did make a check out pass on Sunday. He told me then that the 67 was sold to a collector in Flordia.
Smack Dog, he was parked right across the road from your dad.

My dad still tells stories about that car. He built it I think in the mid seventies, and yes it is a real car. He likes to tell about how they had to put quarters on it, and how they had to get them from Australia or something. Really crazy stuff. We have a picture with an article somewhere where Phil is saying it's the only car in the country with an automatic that leaves like a 4 speed car. "John Holt is the best chassis man east of the Mississippi." I'll never forget that part.....
Saw him at Bruce Miehls' Christmas party this year, he looked really good.

It needed a left quarter panel because it was hit on the way to the track. Phil raced it for a couple of weeks that way. We sure had fun ribbing him on driving a wrecked car. Of course we paid the price he beat us all to win Super 32 that weekend.

Not to hijack, but I just got your message, jim. Please call me at work tomorrow if you still need help

Ben, I just remembered who Phil got it from. Sam Brooks. Sam had the car a number of years. It sit in front of his Shell station on Livingston Ave until 1976-77. It was painted white then and I believe was the original color. I offered to trade Sam a '63 max wedge Savoy(alum. nose) for it but he backed out.

I know Phil had the station in Arlington but that's all I'm aware of. My memory is getting a little foggy..

Must have been a Hemi thing. Bob Marshall had a Shell station on the East side.

I always remember the photo from the 1982 Direct Connection Catalog. Frito, I haven't forgot you - I still have your pics - I will get them back to you SOON!
