I have a line on a Dana 60 with 4.10 gears. I guess I'll show my ignorance when it comes to the different Dana's
The guy says the rear has full floating axle... He was going to put it in his Jeep BUT it was to big/wide.
Please educate me on this. Would this be a good rear to build up for my Dart?

full floating means it came out of a truck,

you can take the axles out by just taking the end caps off of the axle ends

its not good to put in a car

Not good in what respect? I plan on having it cut to fit the car, all new internals, Ends, axles, ETC

If that's your plan then you will be fine. You won't have any provision for a pinion snubber but thats not an issue for everyone.

The tube diameters are larger if I remember correctly.

Need something like this...

Oh no I hope not, Accoriding to this web site http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dana_60#General_specifications the ones with the thicker tubes are a Dana "super" 60 This one is not a super 60....atleast thats what I'm told.

you have the Dana 60, Dana 60HD, and Dana 61.

Some 60's have standard 3" axles, others have thicker 3 1/8-3 1/4 axles. No biggie, just heavier.

You definitely don't want that super 60, nor a Dana 61.

That wiki site must have forgotten about the 23 spline mopar axles in the 60's before 1970.

Measure the tube diameter of the one you are checking out. Also, check for the cast in 60 in the webbing from behind, lower right hand web.

Really for the most part, all you are interested in is the center and tubes. The rest may be usable, but. it's a bonus, IMHO.

Yeah thats basically what I'm looking for is just the center and tubes. Its an open rear with 4.10's
See what tomorrow brings. Guy assures me that its a regular 60, I sure hope so.
Thanks guys for all the info so far
