So with the 630-16 locks, do I need to run caps? Im assuming I do, but I dont know 100%
Kasey
No. We did not run a cap with that lock. Shouldn't need to as it is only changing the position of your retainer(.050 further away from the top of the valve)

m also running the Tool Steel retainers, so there is TONS of room on the edge of the spring. Looks too small, but I am told they are the correct ones. Now I just have to pull the head off the passenger side, and buy 1 head gasket.
Kasey
We run tool steel retainers also. They to look smaller on the spring than I thought they should but have been running for 2 seasons (going into season 3) now with no problems.

since the -.05 retainer seems to be your choice of fixes, will you still have the proper installed height and pressures?

You could also try some smaller diameter springs like these: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LUN-73899/They are 0.050 smaller in diameter than the 943's, and about the same spring rate.
