Put the engine in my car that we built for CarCraft just to make a car show here locally a few weeks ago with the help of Rob and decided since I was basicly called out for things like "485HP is pathetic for a big cammmed 410" and "those heads are not stock" even though that's the way we sell them with NO PORTING I figured the only way to silence the PEANUT GALLERY was to run it! So last night, me and Rob took the car to Irwindale Speedway where they have a nice little 1/8 drag strip and got 3 runs in before leaving.
Mark and Phil were also there to share in the fun. Good to see you guys again!
So the pathetic 485HP 410, Rob's 3500 stall 10" Hughes converter, mech. water pump, alternator, all street legal with muffs to boot right off the trailer it went 7.00 at 95.6 MPH with a 1.46 60ft! I removed the aircleaner and already had the air pan on and it didn't seem to help much as it went 6.987 at 95.5 MPH with a 1.45 60ft. Last run I really leaned on it at the starting line, launching at 3300rpm, carrying the front end a bit it went 6.94 at 96 MPH with a 1.43 60ft!!
So there it is, my 3350lb car went 10's with this "pathetic" as it was called pump gas 410 with UNPORTED RHS heads and RPM intake, 750DP holley carb, my 1 7/8 headers cause that's what I had which made less power than the 1 5/8 headers, and a HYD FLAT TAPPET CAM!
Yes I did run slicks...Ohhhhh shooot now I'm in trouble....LOL....LOL.....LOL!!
This engine made 485HP and 517TQ on our dyno and this is what it ran in my car....I will have pics tonite, and scans of the time slips...is that enough? It will have to be....ha ha ha!!

nice times. what does that work out to as far as HP using say the moroso calculator?
my only beef was calling them OOTB heads, as they aren't OOTB RHS heads, since they come from RHS with seats cut for a 1.92 intake valve, and you prep and sell them with 2.02's...

How do the RHS heads compare to the Eddies ? Which head would be more practicle for a real driver 408 ?
The 2.02 RHS heads will outflow the Eddy's 265-ish to 245-ish. The 1.92 RHS heads will flow right with the Eddys at that 245-ish mark.
Good job Brian! But get ready for the slicks to be an issue with some; some will question what exhaust, gear, etc...so tell us those details will ya? Did you actually compare the 2 sets of headers on the dyno??
Again, HIGH FIVE to you!!

i asked that in the last thread, they flow better OOTB than eddies and at fewer $$..the eddy does have more HP potential, tho.

Everyone kinda knows my car to some degree...it's not a true street car, but I have 3" exhaust system with Spintech muffs, I ran slicks, 4.56 gear, 904 trans, and ladder bars out back. But...it's heavy and I ran it like we dyno'd it other than the exhaust which probably didn't help HP any, and I ran an alternator to boot. I foot braked the car because the converter is NOT setup for trans brake. So my car is not a ringer...but it's not a true street car either...but it's what I had to test with and what you see is what you get!
I know plenty of guys who put slicks on their street cars when they go to the track. And best times were shifting well above 6000rpm too, which surprised me a lot!
This thing didn't even crack 490HP on our dyno...LOL!
I will be pulling it out and dyno'ing it again just the way it comes out of the car, and then we will be testing both a summit carb, my 950HP and also how much an electric water pump is worth on this engine. So I'll post that info once I have it. Just remember this engine was all bolt on's and no extra working like porting or anything like that. What I want people to take from this is the fact that we built a reasonably priced stroker sb mopar that performs as good as it looks and sb guys don't have to spend the big fortune they once did to achieve an engine that makes great power AND lives on the street. And anyone can repeat this combo with very little effort.

It's a 295HL comp cam, 251-257@ .050 with about 580 lift with the 1.55 rockers.

Since the Moroso calculator is set up for 1/4 mile, I used 121 MPH and 3350 lbs. 455 HP
Package is obviously not wrung out with 3 passes on it so, you could call them shake-down passes with no tuning.
Nice low buck streeter.
