Where can I get my hands on a horn relay for a 1970 Duster? This one has the 4 terminals on the relay for the key-in-ignition function. All the parts stores (Advance, Autozone, NAPA) show are the ones with the 3 terminals. I had no idea this would be such a difficult item to locate!!!

Have you tried rockauto.com? They usually have all the varieties of one part.

Thanks for the reply. I did as you suggested, but they showed nothing for a horn relay.

Anybody else???

OK, I appreciate that, Nacho. It appears that these are not available through any parts stores, nor any of the vendors that I checked here on Moparts.

Thanks, DirectSubjection! So, you can see my predicament. If the 3 prong ones are available, why not the 4 prong ones?

Are these maybe used on other vehicles (not necessarily Mopars) that I could do a search for?

Look at the ECHLIN relay #HR131 from NAPA. It is a 4 prong relay that looks like my horn relay. It has a bracket attached ,but that can be cut off if not needed.

Shadetree72, I believe you found it!!! May I ask, what did you do to locate this? I did a search on NAPA's website using several years of Mopar horn relays, but none were located that looked like this one. Most were the 3 prong version.

I searched "relays" in general and started looking at all that were listed until I found the one that looked like what I had. It worked as far as a horn relay, but I don't know about the key buzzer as mine didn't work when I got the car-72 Challenger. My relay plugs directly into the fuse box, I'm not sure what your setup is. Good luck, hope this helps.

The reason I need this relay is because I want the key-in-ignition buzzer to work. My Duster has a Painless fuse block wired into the underdash harness, so it has it's own horn relay. But, to have the buzzer work, I must have this relay, too. I know why my buzzer isn't working. I found a broken wire in the steering column, the wire that feeds the buzzer.

Thanks again for the help!

71/73 and lates E and B bodies uses same configuration and everything than A bodies BUT the bracket attached to cover. If Somebody is not able to find the one with brackes and get one without the brackes and STIL HAVE the old piece, you can remove the covers and interchange, fitting the new piece into the old piece cover with the bracket... voila!

I can't speak for the Echlin part but it cross references with BDW part R218 available at Advance Auto. I found this thread trying to track down a horn relay for my 71 Challenger.

It is a very close match to the original relay and DOES include the key in buzzer.

The relay fits in my fuse box and works with no modifications. But there are 2 slight differences which could easily be fixed to make it a closer match. The bracket, on the BWD part at least, is held on with what looks like 3 small peened over mounting studs, which could be easily ground off. And three of the blades (the three in a group on one side) have slight steps at the base making them a tad too wide for it to fit in the fuse box flush, again easily fixed with a dremel.

But again the part fits (mostly) and works in my 71 Challenger as is. Thanks for this thread it helped get my horns going again after 9 years, since some jackass at a shop removed mine to kill the key in buzzer, and then proceeded to loose it.

Glad to hear this helped you. When I get enough time (and the weather lets up a bit!), I will get at the Duster. Hopefully my issues will be cleared up, as well.
